Pupil premium

Pupil Premium is additional money delegated to the academy and is matched to the number of pupils who are eligible for free school meals and who are children of service families. At Thoresby Vale Primary Academy we use our funding for a range of purposes suited to the individual needs of our children.

Pupil premium strategy 2025-2028

Sports premium

All young people should have the opportunity to live healthy and active lives. A positive experience of sport and physical activity at a young age can build a lifetime habit of participation and is central to meeting the government’s ambitions for a world-class education system.

The PE and sport premium can help primary schools to achieve this aim, providing primary schools with £320m of government funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of the PE, physical activity and sport offered through their core budgets. It is allocated directly to schools so they have the flexibility to use it in the way that works best for their pupils.

Impact of the funding

Impact on pupils participation and attainment in PE and sport

As a new school, a significant proportion of the PE and sport premium funding was invested in high-quality PE equipment, outdoor play resources and the development of a structured PE curriculum. This has enabled all pupils to access a broad range of physical activities and PE lessons from the outset. The improved resources have increased participation in active play, PE lessons and extracurricular opportunities, while the PE curriculum has provided a clear progression of skills and knowledge across year groups. Staff CPD has further enhanced the quality of PE delivery, ensuring pupils receive high-quality teaching and developing positive attitudes towards physical activity and sport.

How this will be sustained

The school has invested in durable equipment and outdoor provision that will continue to benefit pupils for many years. The established PE curriculum will remain embedded across the school, ensuring consistent and progressive PE teaching as the school grows. Ongoing staff training and membership of PE and sport networks will continue to develop staff expertise and maintain high-quality provision. Future PE and sport premium funding will be used strategically to refresh resources, expand extracurricular opportunities and further increase participation for all pupils, including disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND.
