Admissions for September 2027 are fast approaching and in preparation we wanted to share a few of the reasons why your child should begin their journey at Thoresby Vale. We want to give you an insight into life at our school, introduce our dedicated staff and our fantastic pupils.

Community

We have a warm and welcoming school community here at Thoresby Vale. As a newly opened Primary Academy we have worked hard on building connections with parents and our wider community to ensure our pupils get the best out of their school experience.

“We aim to create a school where children, families, and staff feel proud to belong to.” – Rebecca Hurley, Principal.

Student voice

Without all our wonderful pupils Thoresby Vale would not be the happy school we know it to be. We asked a few of our pupils what they love most about school and their thoughts display exactly why Thoresby Vale is an excellent place for your child to begin their education.

Healthy habits

Here at Thoresby Vale we are committed to inspiring and empowering confident, independent children. To help develop these characteristics we instil a unique set of core values and behaviours in all our pupils.

Our healthy habits include; Finding joy, building connection, taking responsibility, being respectful, being curious and being a leader.

It is our aim that these healthy habits will guide them in their learning, so when they leave Thoresby they have an understanding of how they can make a positive impact in the world.

Forest school

Our amazing forest school is a big part of what makes Thoresby Vale unique. We believe that education is more than just mastering English and maths – it’s also about learning and understanding the natural world.

A common misconception that forest school is just outdoor play. In reality, it is a carefully planned, child-led approach that supports leaning, emotional wellbeing and personal growth.

Staff voice

Our wonderful team is here to support your children every step of the way, from our lovely teachers and teaching assistants to our wonderful midday support staff, everyone is dedicated helping your child create lasting memories during their time at Thoresby Vale.

Thoresby 30

We have carefully curated the Thoresby 30. This is a set of adventures, experiences, significant works, calls to action, and enrichment activities. These are linked to our healthy habits and are designed to support the character and personal development of our pupils.

We want our parents to understand that personal development is equally important as learning development at Thoresby Vale.
