Year 4, 5 and 6 took part in an exciting digital arts project led by Rebecca Smith and Harry Hempshall from urban projections and funded by Inspire Youth Arts.
Our creative journey began with a visit to Sherwood Forest, where we sketched natural objects such as grass, dandelions and took inspiration from the famous Major Oak. Back at school, we worked together to create a large collaborative pen wash artwork inspired by nature. We also designed green man collages, drawing from woodland folklore and the natural world around us. Using tag tool, we transformed our collages into animated digital artworks, bringing our creations to life. We then combined images of our artwork with poetry we had written and music to create our own digital films.
The project ended with a special gallery exhibition, where parents and carers were invited to view our artwork, animations and films. It was a wonderful celebration of a week filled with creativity, collaboration and new experiences. A huge thank you to Bec, Harry and Inspire Youth Arts for providing us with such an inspiring opportunity and thank you to the volunteers who joined us along the way and helped make the project possible.
We are so grateful to have had this fabulous opportunity. We are also incredibly proud of everything the children created and learnt throughout the project.
