Thoresby Vale Primary Academy has reached its first milestone in just a few short weeks by completing a task from the Thoresby 30.
The Thoresby 30 is a set of activities, experiences and adventures which aim to help nurture personal and character development of our children. The reason for this is so our children during their time at Thoresby Vale, develop a clear understanding of their identity and learn how they can make a positive impact on the world.
The first task our pupils completed was from the Be Curious category as our year 5 and 6 pupils expanded their imaginations with wildlife artist Rosie Smith.
The children were tasked with exploring endangered animals through colours and textures. They sketched elephants on carbon paper and used rock salts, table salts, cellophane and dripping water to see the different effects the reactions had with watercolours. Rosie also taught the children how to use colour to build up tones to create amazing backgrounds.
All the children did a fantastic job and should be so proud of what they created. The artwork they created will go further and be entered into the Sketch for Survival Junior Competition which will help raise funds for conservation.
We are already excited to see the next Thoresby 30 task the children complete.
